Founded in 1178 for monks of the Tironensian order by King William the Lion, Arbroath Abbey is famous in Scottish history for its association with the Declaration of Arbroath, in which Scotland’s nobles swore their independence from England. Arbroath Signal Tower Museum
Located beside the harbour, Arbroath Signal Tower Museum celebrates the burgh’s maritime and industrial past. Arbroath Signal Tower Museum is located in an elegant complex of regency buildings which, until 1955, housed the shore station and family living quarters for the light keepers of the Bell Rock Lighthouse. Today you can learn about the fascinating history of Bell Rock Lighthouse, and explore how the keeper’s family lived. The museum also houses artefacts on Arbroath’s fishing heritage.
Kerr's Miniature Railway
Scotland’s oldest miniature railway, running their first train in West Links Park, Arbroath in 1935. Since then, nearly two million people have enjoyed a ride along our quarter mile track on the seafront. Indeed many of the parents and grandparents bringing their children along for their first ride on the wee railway, reminisce of the day their parents had brought them along as toddlers. Not that the railway is only for children! With six miniature locomotives including two steam, miniature buses and a fire engine, there is always lots to see and many an adult is just as keen as the wains to have a ‘hurl’ along the line. Camperdown Wildlife Centre
Meet bears, wolves, otters and discover the wonderful world of animals at Camperdown Wildlife Centre in Dundee. Camperdown is loved by visitors of all ages. You don't need to be young to have a great day out here - just young at heart! Located within the beautiful Camperdown Country Park, the centre is home to over 50 species of animals, birds and reptiles, many of which are threatened or endangered in the wild. Highlights include wolves, snowy owls, ring-tailed lemurs, marmosets and European brown bears. Camperdown Wildlife Centre hosts various events throughout the year, which are both educational and fun.
